The Boys Teen Challenge at Lakeside Academy provides the tools and resources your kids need to overcome substance use disorder, build new relationships, and transition back to daily life.
Our beautiful campus is located roughly 45 minutes outside of Minneapolis between Moore Lake and Lake Charlotte.
We have 48 acres encompassing a living facility, a gym, an amphitheater and music room, an on-site school, and tons of space to enjoy the great outdoors. It is the perfect place to get help for troubled teens in an environment that is free of outside stresses.
About Our Programs
Lakeside Academy behavioral program, consists of 4 levels and takes between 6-12 months to complete depending upon the student’s engagement. All applicants undergo a one-on-one assessment with one of our licensed caretakers to determine the specific needs of the individual. We offer both holistic drug rehabilitation and treatment for other behavioral issues that may be independent of drug use.
Holistic Drug Rehabilitation
For teen boys who need our holistic drug rehabilitation program, it begins with 30-60 days of chemical dependency treatment.
During this time your teen will be monitored throughout the detox stages and will receive mental health counseling services as necessary based on their reaction to the detox process.
Once the initial phase has been completed, we will begin to build healthy habits and teach coping skills to help improve self-control, redirect self-destructive behaviors, improve communication ability, and teach these young men to be advocates for themselves.
We will also provide a number of activities and resources for physical health, academics, and faith formation. The boys in our care will have a chance to work with others in their peer group while playing sports, completing projects, and exploring new activities outdoors.
Troubled Teen Behavioral Programs
Our troubled teen behavioral programs are focused on finding the root cause of behaviors and teaching young people a better way to handle themselves in stressful situations. This will include healing from the past, learning to cope, and understanding themselves better. Both individual and group counseling sessions are provided throughout the week.
We also have the opportunity to pair teens with a mentor who can guide them. In addition, we work on communication skills and healthy activities with the help of our expert staff.
A Typical Day
A typical day at Lakeside Academy will depend on the individual needs of your son.
- Each day will begin with breakfast and group meetings.
- Throughout the day, your son will attend a variety of different educational and discussion groups, broken up by periods of physical activity, individual therapy sessions, and downtime for independent expression.
- In the evenings, dinner is a shared experience, followed by group chores in the dorms. Everyone shares the responsibilities of keeping the facility running smoothly, and all students are empowered to get the help they need when they need it.
